Bubble-Buster

Why choose the
        SafeAir1
                Bubble-Buster ...

Safety... Every pilot flying an enclosed "bubble" canopy style aircraft should have a means of emergency escape. Whether from roll-over accident or other malfunction, not being able to get out of the aircraft could be extremely uncomfortable or even fatal.

Design... SafeAir1 utilizes 4130 aircraft grade steel and a hardening process to provide a reliable and lightweight tool grade tip for breaking the aircraft Plexiglas. This 78 degree tip provides an effective "force-multiplier" when used with a stabbing or hacking motion should you ever need to break the canopy.*

Convenience... Any tool, to be useful, has to be handy and the passenger-side control stick is always in the plane and within easy reach... even in an "upset" or in the dark.

Options... The Bubble-Buster is available in 7/8" steel tube (per Vans's standard plans) as well as in 1" tube which allows the builder to use MATCHING pilot and passenger control sticks and grips.

At right and below you can see the Bubble-Buster in an actual RV6 installation.

Please note that the Bubble-Buster 1000 and Bubble-Buster 875 do not include paint or grip. As with Van's kits. Painting and choice of grip style is left to the builder.

Why choose the
Bubble-Buster 1000 ?

The Bubble-Buster 1000 is manufactured with 4130 grade 1" tube with a .875" insert tube welded into it which allows it to be inserted into the passenge-side control cluster in RV6's, RV7's, and RV9's. (See picture at left.)

The 1" diameter tubing matches the 1" tube of the pilot's control stick. Whether you are planning to use bicycle style grips or custom molded, multifunction grips, this makes it easier to choose grips for your RV since only one grip style is necessary.

Also, the Bubble-Buster 1000 only weighs about an ounce more than the Bubble-Buster 875. (This is because the 1" tube stock is a thinner wall material than the 7/8" tubing that is supplied with Van's kits.)

* Due to the large differences in individual's strength and abilities to utilize the tool, as well as the unpredictable nature of aircraft accidents, SafeAir1 cannot and does not make any specific or generalized claims or guarantees that you will be able to break your aircraft canopy with the Bubble-Buster.
